Its a pure white powder with a mild chemical odor. The less pure commercial powders have a tan colour. Aldrin is used as a pesticide for crops in field such as corn and cotton. The Aldrin pollutes the land by binding tightly to soil ad slowly evaporates into the air. The Aldrin also seeps into the water and pollutes it and gets into the systems of the underwater creatures. Aldrin turns to Dieldrin. Therefore Dieldrin is everywhere in the environment but in small amounts because it was banned. It contaminates water and soil and animals such as fish seafood, dairy products, fatty meats The accidental or intentional ingestion of high levels of Aldrin affect the central nervous system. It causes convulsions. The build up of Aldrin in body may cause death. There are tests available that measure the amount of Dieldrin in blood, fat, breast milk s most often used. The amount of Dieldrin in the body indicates how much Dieldrin you have been exposed to, but not when, since Dieldrin stays in the body a long time. Tests are not routinely performed at the doctors office. Some studies predict that levels above 0.2 milligrams of Dieldrin in a liter of blood may result in harmful affects such as convulsions or uncontrollable muscle movements. Great Gatsby Essay In the beginning of Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, Nick doesn’t care too much for Gatsby, but later Nick begins to like Gatsby, and by the end, Nick and Gatsby become best friends. It is sort of weird how their relationship develops, and the reason it develops. Nick and Gatsby seem to be two totally different people, but I guess opposites attract. In the beginning of Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, Nick doesn’t care too much for Gatsby. Nick thinks that Gatsby is kind of odd, and mysterious. For example, on page 20, Nick says â€Å"he gave a sudden intimation that he was content to be alone†. That is kind of weird because if he wanted to be alone, why does he throw huge parties. Also Gatsby was just standing there with his arm extended looking at a light, if that isn’t weird than what is. This one encounter does not drive Nick away from getting to know Gatsby. Later in Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, Nick begins to like Gatsby. Later on when Nick meets Gatsby at a party he describes his smile. The way Nick described it was not normal he said â€Å"It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. †(48) You don’t describe a smile that way unless you like that person, he could have just said he had a nice smile. After that Gatsby and Nick talked a lot more and hung out a lot more after that party, I guess you could say this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. By the end of Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, Nick and Gatsby became best friends. Towards the end Nick and Gatsby were always together. They went to lunch together, rode in Gatsby’s hydroplane together, and went to the city together. Nick liked Gatsby so much he said â€Å"They’re a rotten crowd,† I shouted across the lawn. â€Å"You’re worth the whole damn bunch put together. †(154) Nick also tells Gatsby’s father that â€Å"We were close friends. † (168) after Gatsby had died. At Gatsby’s funeral no one was their but Nick this showed that Gatsby had no other friends except for Nick. Even though Nick doesn’t seem to like Gatsby at the beginning the two of them end up as best friends. Even after Gatsby lies to Nick and then confesses the truth Nick was still friends with Gatsby.

There are a few police officers scattered about closing off the area. (Extras during the stage production.) They would leave the stage until the end of the act when the detectives call the coroner to take away the body. James, Lee and Chris are on the site of a murder. The murder in question is of one of their co-workers and friend Nolan Eckhart. They are standing around the body of Nolan; James is kneeling down actually checking on the body. The alley is empty with the exception of the body and a small pile of garbage from the bar. Act One: Scene One ( James is a man nearing forty. His build is average; he has light skin and dark hair. He is sensible and caring enough for his partners. He’s dismayed that Nolan has been killed. They were close friends in the office. Lee has been around for a while nearing his fifties he has been working on the force for twenty years. He is experienced but tired. Nolan’s death is not easy on him either, though he won’t show it. He’s a larger man than James, with a bit of a round gut and his head is affixed with greying and balding hair. The Nobel committee cited Al Gore as â€Å"the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted† to halt global warming.Given this historic blizzard, should this most recent evidence of a global warming trend be taken seriously? Is there conclusive evidence of global warming? Does global climate change have serious consequences when many of us live or travel in climate-controlled structures that are cooled in summer and heated in winter? An Inconvenient Truth The movie we watched last Friday was â€Å"An Inconvenient Truth. † For me, it is entitled â€Å"An Inconvenient Truth† because the main topic there, which is climate change and climate crisis, is a very inconvenient reality that we’re facing today. The man discussing the issue was former United States Vice President Mr. Al Gore, who was a politician and a very concerned man about the environment. An Inconvenient Truth focuses on Al Gore and his travels in support of his efforts to educate the public about the severity of the climate crisis. The main issue presented in the clip wasclimate change and climate crisis. Mr. Al Gore explained this topic through a Power Point presentation. He travelled all over the world to show people this presentation. He had a vision: to convince people that global warming is a reality that we’re currently facing today and we should start taking care of Mother Earth. According to him, global warming is now melting glaciers, ice, and it is destroying the beauty of Earth. He said that the main cause of this is the Greenhouse Effect, which is caused by a lot of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) that are trapped within the Earth. The Earth was said to â€Å"breathe out† CO2. CO2 was trapped in the Earth because of the unusual thickening of the Earth’s ozone layer, and now it â€Å"breathes out† little CO2 than before. The greenhouse effect is bad to the living organisms on Earth because it contributes to a lot of damage to the planet. The human activity that caused the greatest release of greenhouse gases is the smoke released from factories. It releases harmful substances that damage our ozone layer. But, there are also other causes, such as what Mr.  Al Gore said: â€Å"Each one of us is a cause of global warming, but each one of us can make choices to change that with the things we buy, the electricity we use, the cars we drive; we can make choices to bring our individual carbon emissions to zero. The solutions are in our hands, we just have to have the determination to make it happen. We have everything that we need to reduce carbon emissions, everything but political will. But in America, the will to act is a renewable resource. Throughout the movie, Gore discusses the scientific opinion on climate change, as well as the present and future effects of global warming and stresses that climate change â€Å"is really not a political issue, so much as a moral one,† describing the consequences he believes global climate change will produce if the amount of human-generated greenhouse gases is not significantly reduced in the very near future. Gore also presents Antarctic ice coring data showing CO2 levels higher now than in the past 650,000 years. Yes, I believe Al Gore. I believe that global warming is happening right now. In the realities happening now, who wouldn’t believe that it’s happening right now? A particular event that cited why Mr. Al Gore gives proof that global warming is happening was the melting of glaciers in Antarctica and temperature rise. What inspired his interest in the issue was his college education with early climate expert Roger Revelle at Harvard University; his sister's death from lung cancer and his young son's near-fatal car accident. It is mid-summer of 1968 and I was allowed to go back to Serbia to visit my friends and family who I have missed dearly since moving to America. Sadly my friendship to Elena has ended. I did not want it to end, but she decided to end it over a pointless reason. She ended our friendship due to the fact that I did not want here to come to Serbia with me to visit my friends and family, and for some reason she was upset about this. It’s nothing personal, it’s just that I have not seen them in a year, all I wanted was time to be with them by myself, and not to have to play â€Å"tour guide† with because she would want to sightsee and have me take her. Now I am stuck in Rodina-Mat (Russia), where the ho t sun is most likely sunburning me badly. I know I seem clingy, but Brilla was the only real friend I have made in America and she knows that. I wish I could recant most of the things that I said to her, but I cannot change the past and I and do not want to be friends with someone that focuses on herself before someone else’s feelings.
